When a child is no longer associated with your organization, we recommend discharging them. This helps track child movement
Step 1: Navigate to the Child Details page
- Log in to your account.
- Navigate to the "Children" menu item.
- Locate and click on the child for whom you want to update the placement status.
Step 2: Update Placement Status
- On the "Child Details" page, click the pencil icon to edit the page.
- Under the "Placement Status" field, choose "Discharged."
Step 3: Complete Discharge Details
- If you select "Discharged," a new field for the "Discharged Date" will appear. Enter the discharge date.
- A prompt will appear, asking for the reason for the placement status update.
- Select one of the following reasons:
- Child Requested Movement
- Family Requested Movement
- Family Stopped Fostering
- Transfer to Another Agency
- Reunification with Parent(s) or Primary Caretaker(s)
- Living with Other Relative(s)/ Kinship
- Adoption
- Emancipation/ Aged Out
- Guardianship
- Runaway
- Other (specify)
- If "Other" is selected, provide additional details in the text box.
- Click "Submit" to submit and save the details.
- A toast bar will confirm the successful update.
- Click “Save” to save changes to the page.
Note: If a child is unlinked from a family before being discharged, the discharge date will be displayed accurately under the History widget, but not in the child details form. If you click the edit button next to the child’s name and go to the form, the date will be null/empty if child is discharged for the first time or it will display the date that a child was discharged from a family.
Foster Family Notification
Foster families automatically receive a notification when a child under their care is discharged or moved to a different family. The family has until the 15th of the next month to complete the remaining logs for the child.
